Xcode Mac 10.12

Question or issue on macOS:

Mac

I seem to have gotten stuck in MacOS / Xcode purgatory.

All downloads are hosted by Apple. Links on this site take you directly to Apple’s download pages. This is not an official Apple website. Please consider donating to help maintain it. Looking for an API? Filed bug, apple will not be releasing anything else for 10.12. Anyway i'm good until app store doesn't accept xcode 9.3 builds. I see no reason to upgrade anything. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Even Adobe loathes the new apple FS in 10.13.

I’m on OS Sierra/10.12.6.

Xcode 12.2 includes Swift 5.3 and SDKs for iOS 14.2, iPadOS 14.2, tvOS 14.2, watchOS 7.1, and macOS Big Sur. Xcode IDE adopts the refined macOS Big Sur design including updated toolbar, icons, and sidebar Mac apps are updated to Universal, and Macs with Apple silicon can debug both the Apple silicon and Intel versions.

Mac – Xcode 10.1 – High Sierra 10.13.6 Posted on April 3, 2019 June 7, 2019 Author MrNetTek If you’re using Mac OS High Sierra, you are required to use Xcode 10.1 for compatibility. I have macOS 10.12 Sierra installed on VMWare workstation pro. MACos seems to work well. Does anyone know how I can get XCode 9 to load. It says sorry, you need to have OS 10.12. Which I seem to have ok, but on VMWare 12.5 (? Well the latest version as of 9/23/2017 = today's download) XCode won't load.

When I try to update, I get a warning, that there’s an issue with upgrading vs DisplayLink and so it cannot be done.

That directly conflicts with Xcode which (as of now, on App Store) only works on 10.13.2 or later.

I cannot find a place to download an earlier version of Xcode.
I cannot upgrade to High Sierra.

How can I get this happening?

How to solve this problem?

Solution no. 1:

You can get it here at this URL: https://developer.apple.com/download/more/ to download a version of Xcode you want. Specifically, get 9.2. This is the recent version that works with mac OS Sierra.

Xcode Mac 10.12

Edit: Xcode 9.2.1 is no longer an available version. 9.2 works.

Xcode

Solution no. 2:

Xcode 9.2 works well for Mac OS Sierra (10.12.6). I installed it today (3rd Feb 2020).

Solution no. 3:

For OS Sierra/10.12.6 you need Xcode-8.3 from below link

Xcode para mac 10.12.6

Xcode Mac 10.12.6

The Xcode-9* versions are not compatible.

Xcode For Mac Sierra 10.12

Solution no. 4:

Xcode Mac 10.13.6

Xcode 9.2 is working fine on High Sierra. I have downloaded and installed it today.

Hope this helps!
